3 weeks old
Today is Libby and Alex's 3-weeks old birthday. Can't believe how fast 3 weeks has gone by. We're very slowly learning lots about each other and starting to figure out when we like to sleep and eat. It's a bit adventure every day!
We've had several outings over the last few days. On Saturday morning, we met up with our friends Charlotte and Lou and their 4-week-old, Imira. Imira was born 6 days before Libby and Alex. We also went over to their house on Sunday for a baby-fest and to introduce all the babies to our friend, Gemma. We've been trying to get to the park every day for some fresh air (for both parents and babies), which is also nice.
Okay - here come the pictures.....
The 3 sweet babies together.
Sweet little Imira in her carry cot.
Libby found her fingers the other day and proceeded to try to swallow them
Phil has decided to try out all the baby-gear - here he tries on one of the baby towels. Clearly it's too small for him.
Alex making a funny face. Was trying to get a picture of his eyes to figure out what colour they are. In contrast to Libby, his are more gray than blue.
Various states of sleep
At least they get to sleep! :D
Three pictures of the boffins in various states of sleep. The kissy head one shows the difference in their head sizes.

Plus one picture of Alex awake
Two weeks eve
Can't believe it's been two weeks already. It's gone by like a blur. My life now occurs in 15-20 minute snippets of feeding. Both babies are doing very well. Will keep the words short and add pictures.
Mother's prerogative - to play with hair while Libby is busy eating
A picture of Libby with her eyes open - she spends a lot of time just gazing at her surroundings
Alex all nestled down in his bouncy chair
In contrast to their 1 week old picture with the newspaper - this one has Alex being relatively calm and Libby kicking up a fuss
Cassie kitty seems to be taking it all in stride - at least as long as the babies aren't crying too hard.
One week old - plus a couple days
Well - we've made it through the first week plus a couple of days and so far, so good. The babies are eating really well and today, when weighed by the midwife, had both passed their birth weights! Hurrah - this means Mom's feeding "routine" seems to be working.
We also had our first visitors at home this weekend. Auntie Sam and Grandad Frank came to say hello and welcome to Libby and Alex. They brought some lovely clothes for the kids and some lovely champagne for the parents. It was fabulous having them here.
New pics below...
The one week old picture... Alex is clearly happy!

Finally.......
Words first - then pics... I know you'll all skip to the pics at this point.
Just wanted to say they finally arrived and we got home from the hospital yesterday (it was a bit of a "Free at Last" moment). I know a lot of you have been waiting for pictures and hopefully this will suffice for a few days. Will try to post more soon.
Statistics - Elizabeth Kathleen Bland born at 12:52pm on the 10th of July, 2007 weighing in at a respectable 5lbs 12oz followed closely by Alexander Jack Bland born at 12:53pm topping the scales at an astounding 6lbs 2oz. Not bad really for twins. Although, I'd heard stories about twins who went to full term weighing 8 and 8.5 lbs each - sounds quite scary to me especially given my size at the end.
Anyway - here are the pictures. More on the story later...

Dad and his boy
A very happy mum to see and hold her wee ones (Libby on my left and Alex on my right, as they were in utero)
INSTANT FAMILY
Alex showing his consternation post pediatrician exam - it wasn't pleasant to watch - can't imagine how it felt.
So glad we got to go home from the hospital!!! We look so tiny in our car seats, but they are quite comfy. Libby's on the left and Alex is on the right.
Thirty-seven weeks and holding...

Thirty-seven weeks and holding... the title says it all. An induction is scheduled for Friday, but frankly, I'm getting a bit impatient. I realize that this may seem a bit odd, given that a normal pregnancy is supposed to last 40 weeks. I'm going to pull the twins trump card and say that they are heavy. :D And also my hospital says it's considers 38 weeks overdue for twins, although I'm not entirely sure if that can be true. I've read about a lot of twins who go to 40 weeks and beyond.
As you can see from the picture, it looks like they dropped a bit lower. At the last appointment Libby was pretty well engaged, so we seem to looking at an "any time now" situation (At least I hope so). So we wait. and I walk and sit on the yoga ball and eat pineapple and drink raspberry leaf tea in the hopes it will things will kick off before Friday. Hope to have baby pics to post next time.
