Perth Zoo

We're settling in to the Perth lifestyle pretty well. We've visited the beach and got a treat of seeing dolphins. And apparently the dolphins are commonly seen in the river we live near, so we'll keep a look out for them there too.

We went to the Zoo (www.perthzoo.wa.gov.au) recently. I haven't been to a big zoo in a very long time. My last experience may have been the San Diego Zoo about a million years ago (give or take). This one was very nice. The enclosures were very comfy for the animals and in the Australian outback section, people walk through where the animals are. There's a path to stay on but the kangaroos and wallabies can walk right up to you if they want.

We saw lots of new animals like the Tasmanian Devil (see pic). Fun to see sleepy koalas too. Kids weren't cooperative about getting their pictures taken with animals in the background, but we managed one on the fake oversize numbat.

A really interesting aspect to the zoo is that try take the elephants for a walk around the zoo to get some exercise.

Enjoy!
